• Desai, S: Children at Risk: The Role of Family Structure in Latin America and West Africa (Population and Development Review, 1992): The article looks at the general traditional structure of families and how they affect the socialization and upbringing of children in Latin America and West Africa.

• Calvin Klein Commercial: The following is the commercial I used in my webquest. I used it as an example to facilitate a discussion over the way commercials use gender roles and gender stereotypes to sell a particular product.
• The Simpsons - Fox on Demand: I wanted students to see how popular television shows like "The SImplsons" ; reinforce specific gender roles and have the ability to socialize children of all ages.
• Family Guy - Fox on Demand: I used this popular television show as an example of how television reinforces certain gender roles. Additionally, I wanted students to think about the ways in which television shows (some of which they watch themselves) support certain stereotypes and gender roles. I chose this show because students can access episodes online for free and to provide a connection to some students' lives.
• Crespi, I: Socialisation as the Way to Gender Roles within the Family: A Study of Adolescents and Their Parents in Great Britain (Marie Curie Fellows Association): Crespi discusses how parents raise their children in Great Britain keeping in mind specific gender roles. By analyzing English families, Crespi looks to see how parents use gender roles to socialize their children to the extent that they act in a specific manner in accordance with their sex. Crespi takes this one step farther as she also looks at how socio-economic status influences gender role formation. Additionally, she attempts to paint an accurate picture of how the special relationship between parents and child is influenced by gender attitudes.
